Welcome to the Home Builders Association Manatee-Sarasota The Home Builders Association Manatee-Sarasota (HBAMS) is a professional trade organization comprised of local builders and associated businesses involved in the homebuilding industry. The association is affiliated with both the Florida Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. Our Mission Statement The mission of HBA Manatee-Sarasota is to serve its members by striving for a successful building environment throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties. The programs and services provided to HBA Manatee-Sarasota members enhance their professionalism and encourage their involvement in community leadership to better the quality of life for all citizens. VOTE NO on 4 One of the most important issues that will have a major effect on our industry, on your business and the members of the HBA, as well as on the economy of both our community and the State of Florida is Amendment 4. This is a referendum scheduled to be on the ballot in November 2010. We can not encourage you enough to become intimately familiar with this issue facing us. You need to be able to talk directly to this matter with anyone you encounter over the next several months. EDUCATION…. Is the key. The best way to become familiar is to go to www.florida2010.org and you will find all the most current information about the “truth” of what Amendment 4, if passed, the effects that will have on your business, employees and families in Florida. The HBA encourages all of members to “VOTE NO on 4”! This veiled attempt to give the average citizen to have a say in any and all changes to the comprehensive plan of your county and or city is an effort to stop growth. All this will do is stop any progress in the recovery of our struggling economy, continue to put more of our citizens out of work and attempt to STOP any growth in the state of Florida. This is not just an isolated threat to the construction industry, as everyone will suffer. Every business along with all of the Chamber of Commerce’s, local and state governments are opposed to this amendment. We have a representative government in place and they have knowledgeable and experienced staff to review and recommend to your elected officials what is best for your community when these changes to the comprehensive plan are submitted for review. The average citizen is neither willing nor capable of reviewing the hundreds of pages of documents required for any Comp Plan amendment to make an informed decision, especially when they would be reading a 75 word description of the change on the ballot when voting.
